The enjoyment OHS senior Tayler O’Donnell derives from participating in choir is evident as she reminisces on her years singing. After successfully auditioning for the Cantabile choir her freshman year, O’Donnell recalls the joy she felt at being picked to sing in such a prestigous choir her sophomore year and proceeding two years. O’Donnell states “Being in an all women’s choir is fun. Our voices mesh well and we are all passionate about music.” She recalls the choirs recent trip to Eau Claire to sing at the Wisconsin Music Directors Convention, and how well the choir bonded and worked together to produce a perfect program. O’Donnell reflects “Being in choir has not only taught me a lot musically, it has been a wonderful way to relieve stress and make new friends.”
O’Donnell participated in the Solo and Ensemble competition her freshman and senior years. This year, her quartette and triple trio groups were chosen to proceed to the State level competition. O’Donnell credits Ms. Jennifer Yancey, OHS choir director, with providing the drive and encouragement which have resulted in these achievements. O’Donnell explains, “Ms Yancey has always pushed me and taught me to challenge myself. She encouraged me to participate in an honors choir last year, which turned out to be one of my most memorable choir experiences.”
Besides participating in choir, O’Donnell is a member of OHS’s ECOS club and Poms team. She is a member of the National Honors Society. O’Donnell is currently employed by Bella Hair Solon as a receptionist. She plans on attending UW-Madison in the Fall to pursue a career in business.
