OHS senior Alli Holznecht, daughter of David and Terri Holznecht, has a passion for musical theater. She has performed with the Children’s Theater of Madison and Oregon Straw Hat Players since the fourth grade and in school musicals since the fifth grade. Holznecht has had roles in three OHS musicals, playing the lead role in the production of “Oliver” her junior year and Rizzo in the 2008 production of "Grease". “I can put the most expression into musicals, and that kind of music suits my voice the best,” explains Holznecht. “I also love becoming different people.”
Holznecht credits her voice teacher, Gregory Brumfield, and OHS choir teacher, Jennifer Yancey, for providing her with the techniques necessary to become a successful singer. She reports that the technical information she has learned in choir has been invaluable. Holznecht also states, “Ms Yancey taught me that I needed to blend with the voice of the choir and not just be concerned with my own voice. I learned how to work as a team.” She credits Brumfield with strengthening her voice range and with teaching her how to put feeling into her singing.
Holznecht has participated in the Solo and Ensemble competition for five years. Holznecht feels that the influences of these two teachers and hard work led her to advance to the State level in this competition two years in a row. “Going to State made me feel very accomplished,” states Holznecht. “It showed me how important choir is in my life. It also taught me how hard work really pays off.”
Holznecht is a member of the OHS National Honor Society. She is a member of ECOS, Link Crew and YOU group, and played on the OHS volleyball team.
Holznecht plans on attending UW Madison in the fall as a pre-law student with the ultimate goal of becoming an attorney.
